Hello! I’m Claire

The Levant Mine, CornwallI’m an award-winning freelance writer, living and working in the beautiful Cotswolds.

Although travelling is my passion, I can’t pack away my busy life and head off around the world like many other travel bloggers seem to be able to do.

Instead, the only way I can travel is by fitting travel into the gaps between my 9 – 5 life, which means long weekends, short weekends, day trips and night trips. With the occasional 2-weeker thrown in along the way, when work allows.

The start of Weekend Candy

I started Weekend Candy in June 2014 (called Travel Candy) to indulge my neurotic, borderline OCD-like obsession of travel writing and travel photography – and it’s grown since then to be my all-consuming travel blogging passion, with readers, followers and likers accompanying me via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram on my journeys.

Today, Weekend Candy focuses specifically on my weekend adventures. So whatever weekend getaway in the UK or Europe you’re looking for, let Weekend Candy be your guide. All the weekend breaks on here have been tried and tested by me.

Have a browse and discover my uber-tasty restaurant, hotel, and B&B recommendations in the UK and Europe, as well as the best local pubs, and great towns and villages to visit. Each post, story, review and itinerary is written by me to give you an insider’s view of every place and help you decide if it’s right for your weekend away.

The future for Weekend Candy

Weekend breaks in the UK and Europe - Travel Candy

I hope one day Weekend Candy will become a leading source of inspiration for anyone looking to fill their weekend with fun things to do – in the UK or beyond. But for now, before world domination, I’ll settle for pouring myself a G&T and writing about my weekend adventures in the hope that they’ll make yours fizzier than before. Salute.

Claire x

PS: If you’re a PR consultant who wants to get me writing for your brand, or you’re an SME who needs a helping hand with your digital marketing, take a peek at what I can do for you and share your troubles with me.

PPS: Alternatively, if you simply want to say ‘howdy’ for the sheer hell of it, then please do. I need all the friends (that aren’t cats) that I can get.

Feel free to get in touch – I’d love to hear from you

  3. Hello Claire 🙂

I’ve just come along your blog today, and I’d like to thank you for being a writer! You seem to have a wonderful personality backed with tons of experience. I’ve just recently publish my very first blog article, and all I can say is that you are definitely an inspiration that I will be religiously following!

Aside from this, I’m currently looking for bloggers/writers to review a product that I market called RBar Energy. I understand how it can be irritating, to some degree, when going through this process with certain companies. So, I thought I’d send more of an introduction email and hopefully get learn more about how you like doing business, and what you expect.

Thank you for your time, and please, keep doing what you do!

Thanks Kalena 🙂 I really appreciate your positive comments – good luck with your blog! I’d love to help you, but you may get better traction with food and health bloggers than with me. Perhaps if you send me an email with your product details, I can see if any food/health&fitness bloggers want to help? You can email me on: hellotravelcandy@gmail.com

  4. Hi!
We are opening a new restaurant in Cheltenham later this month and would love it if you could join us. Please forward your email address so I can send on an invite to you with all the information.
    All the best,

      Hi Abi,

Thanks so much for getting in touch with me via Travel Candy – how did you find me by the way? I’d love an invite to see your new restaurant – in fact, I walked past the other day and it piqued my attention because there’s a ‘stable’ restaurant in my home town of Bridport! I’ve tried your email and it bounced back. My address is: hellotravelcandy@gmail.com

      Thanks again,
      Claire
