Hello! I’m Claire
I’m an award-winning freelance writer, living and working in the beautiful Cotswolds.
Although travelling is my passion, I can’t pack away my busy life and head off around the world like many other travel bloggers seem to be able to do.
Instead, the only way I can travel is by fitting travel into the gaps between my 9 – 5 life, which means long weekends, short weekends, day trips and night trips. With the occasional 2-weeker thrown in along the way, when work allows.
The start of Weekend Candy
I started Weekend Candy in June 2014 (formerly called Travel Candy) to indulge my neurotic, borderline OCD-like obsession of travel writing and travel photography – and it’s grown since then to be my all-consuming travel blogging passion, with readers, followers and likers accompanying me via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram on my journeys.
Today, Weekend Candy focuses specifically on my weekend adventures. So whatever weekend getaway in the UK or Europe you’re looking for, let Weekend Candy be your guide. All the weekend breaks on here have been tried and tested by me.
Have a browse and discover my uber-tasty restaurant, hotel, and B&B recommendations in the UK and Europe, as well as the best local pubs, and great towns and villages to visit. Each post, story, review and itinerary is written by me to give you an insider’s view of every place and help you decide if it’s right for your weekend away.
The future for Weekend Candy
I hope one day Weekend Candy will become a leading source of inspiration for anyone looking to fill their weekend with fun things to do – in the UK or beyond. But for now, before world domination, I’ll settle for pouring myself a G&T and writing about my weekend adventures in the hope that they’ll make yours fizzier than before. Salute.
PS: If you’re a PR consultant who wants to get me writing for your brand, or you’re an SME who needs a helping hand with your digital marketing, take a peek at what I can do for you and share your troubles with me.
PPS: Alternatively, if you simply want to say ‘howdy’ for the sheer hell of it, then please do. I need all the friends (that aren’t cats) that I can get.
Feel free to get in touch – I’d love to hear from you
