When you’re looking for truly unique glamping in Herefordshire, Mad Dogs and Vintage Vans is the answer. It’s an eco-friendly, off-grid boutique luxury glampsite near Ross on Wye, featuring 4 retro vintage vans dating from the 1930s.
Set in the grounds of a Grade-II listed rectory, every van on Mad Dogs and Vintage Vans has amazing views west out towards to the Black Mountains and Hay Bluff. The sunset here are something else – and the peace and quiet is just remarkable.
Each van on this quirky glampsite in leafy Herefordshire has its own name and interior personality – choose from Elsie (she sleeps 2), Gerty (she sleeps 4), Sybil (she sleeps 4), or Monty (a Brockhouse military wagon who sleeps up to 5).
Inside each van you’ll find soft, comfy beds, feather duvets and vintage quilts, and the most thoughtful touches including freshly picked meadow flowers and hot water bottles. Monty, Sybil and Gertie also boast woodburners to keep the chill off.
Follow the sawdust paths that lead from your van through the meadow and you’ll come to the site’s upcycled shower shack, group campfire and mess tent. The showershack is bursting with character – we love the pink sink and stained glass window – and has everything you need to make you feel at home: complimentary organic toiletries, hot water, a flushing WC and a sink with pots, pans and cutlery. The mess tent is a great chill-out area with sofas, a large dining table, hanging candelabra and disco balls – for when you’re in the party spirit.
Should you fancy a ‘Glam and Pamp’ weekend in Herefordshire, you can also add holistic treatments (hot stone massages, reflexology, detox facials) to your stay, which are delivered on-site in the bubble-shaped Lotus Tent.
Plus, there’s canoeing, walking, cycling and tennis all on the doorstep so you can explore the Wye River however you choose and the owners of Mad Dogs and Vintage Vans, Sacha and Jo, will also cook an evening meal for you should you want to take it easy.
This glamping site is perfect for couples and families. Alternatively, you can book the whole site for birthday parties, hen weekends and friend reunions (the site can cater for up to 20 people).
