Dear Cameron Diaz, if you’re ever in the Cotswolds we’ve just the holiday cottage where you can hunker down, without being spotted: Boundary Cottage. This traditional 19th-century Cotswolds cottage stands on a hushed country lane tucked away between Broadway and Chipping Campden.
Stay here and there aren’t holiday makers peeking in your windows or cars parking on your drive. Instead, you’re surrounded by blissfully quiet countryside so you can fully ease into your short break, A-list style.
When you’re ready to explore honeypot Cotswolds’ villages you can. Broadway and Chipping Campden are only a heartbeat away by bike, by car or along one of the many Cotswolds AONB walking trails.
The Stay
This dreamy Broadway holiday cottage delivers starlet beauty on the inside too. Dating back to the early 1800s, Boundary Cottage retains its original character: thick wooden timbers criss-cross the ceilings, stone mullion windows look out onto acres of groomed Cotswolds countryside and there’s a traditional stone fireplace with a wood-burning stove ready to light.
Inside, it’s chocolate-box cosy – without being cramped or dark – and furnished with genuine care and thought by the owners. There’s a Shaker-style, fully-equipped kitchen so you can create lazy Saturday brunches or hearty Sunday lunches easily. You’ll also find a welcome pack waiting for you on arrival with fresh milk and ice-cream from the nearby dairy, locally-produced apple juice and fresh free range eggs from a nearby town.
Move through to the comfy living and dining room where a dining table stands perfectly positioned to enjoy the breath-taking views through the window. Along with a cushy sofa and armchairs facing the fireplace.
Your bedrooms are upstairs. Bedroom one sits on the first floor and is a twin room with an impressive Cotswolds’ stone wall and original stone mullion window overlooking the garden. Next to this is a modern and bright family bathroom with a bath, a separate shower, complimentary Bramley toiletries and jaw-dropping views from the window. Huge bath sheet towels to wrap yourself in are left on the beds and there are fresh, clean guest dressing gowns ready and waiting on the backs of the doors.
Head up into the eaves to the master bedroom, via a second flight of thickly-carpeted stairs. The double bed is dressed with high-quality linens that’ll feel fabulous to climb under after a day exploring. But the real star is the cinematic view that stretches over Meon Hill and out as far as Stratford-upon-Avon and Coventry. The temptation is to stay in bed and watch the skies change colour above the rolling Cotswolds’ fields – if you do, we won’t tell.
However you choose to spend your time at Boundary Cottage in Broadway, one thing’s for sure: this holiday cottage will race your heart whatever the season. In spring, the sounds of lambs fill the air. In autumn, the valley flames red and gold. In summer, the Cotswolds’ stone walls help you keep your cool. And in winter, it’s hard to find a cosier retreat. And we’re not the only ones who think so:
