This Gorgeous Period Holiday Cottage in Rye is Loved by Families

Sleeps 6 | Close to the Sea | Pet-friendly | From £260 per night

Down a hushed cobbled street in the beautiful Citadel of Rye, there’s a black and white holiday cottage waiting patiently for another family to fall in love with it.

It’s not hard to understand why West Street Cottage quickens pulses. Thick beams, long-slung ceilings, wood-panelled rooms, polished floorboards – and, of course, centuries-old tales sealed inside its historic walls.

The Inside

Like many of the beautiful properties on this, one of Rye’s oldest streets, West Street Cottage has travelled through the generations. Its character is etched into every room and floorboard; its period features retained alongside 21st-century enhancements.

Not that its age makes it worn, you understand. Thanks to a beautiful interior design, West Street Cottage would be at home on any Instagram feed. Soft greys and pinks, muted blues and greens, the occasional burst of primary colours – and all set against milk-white walls and smokey wooden timbers.

It is modern and old at the same time so you feel both irresistibly spoilt and irrefutably cosy inside its walls, any time of the year.

The Rooms

This Rye holiday cottage sleeps up to 6 in its 3 gorgeous bedrooms, which is why it’s a much-loved choice for families or groups of friends. The main bedroom boasts a king-sized bed for two and an ensuite, the other 3 rooms sleep two adults or children in either double or single beds – and there’s room for travel cots if necessary.

Downstairs, the open-plan modern kitchen is ideal for flexing your culinary skills in. You can then share your creation with loved ones, either around the breakfast island or the dining table, which comfortably seats 6.

Next door, there’s a wood-panelled sitting room that looks on to the historic West Street. Sink into the velvet sofa and watch the world go by as the woodburner crackles in the original cottage fireplace. Alternatively, just put your feet up, cover yourself with a thick throw and open that book you’ve been meaning to read. Bliss.
