It’s time to hit the hedgerows to harvest elderflower because this fabulous online cooking masterclass will show you how to perfect homemade elderflower cordial.
Hosted by the gorgeously talented Cotswolds’ cook, Alice Through The Year, you’ll learn all the ins and outs of making the sweetest elderflower cordial, and make enough to fill around 4 bottles. Perfect for drinking on a warm summer’s day (with gin) or drizzling over a freshly-made sponge!
Join Alice as she talks through the whole process. You’ll need 1.25kg sugar – granulated or caster, 1 lemon, 40g citric acid (if you don’t have any citric acid then Alice can send you some in the post for £5) – and, of course, 20 heads of elderflower. The best time to pick them is on the morning of the class, but if you can’t manage that simply collect them the day before and pop them in a bag in the fridge.
As well as her elderflower cordial classes, Alice also runs Tuesday ‘Bake Alongs’ live via her Instagram and Facebook – and when it’s safe again, she’ll welcome people into her Cotswold kitchen for face-to-face lessons.
