If beaches were dreams, then Majorca has the sweetest that any starlight slumber could offer.
And two beaches in Majorca, in particular, will sun-drench your soul and make you think you’ve landed in heaven itself.
They come without the clamour of an attached resort and with all the solitude you need to feel deeply rested.
Their names: Es Trenc and Es Cargol.
Es Trenc, Mallorca
We reached the green-blue shores of Es Trenc on a Magic Catamaran excursion.
This Mallorcan beach is an isolated 2km stretch of north-eastern coast about 25 miles east of Palma airport and a short journey from the port of Colonia De Sant Jordi.
Its golden sands sit in front of wind-brushed dunes whilst its silken water dances with three shades of green.
Best of all, the sea at Es Trenc beach is roughly 20 metres deep which means families can feel secure in its sandy arms.
Plus, it has a good sprinkle of facilities to make a full day out here possible (toilets, a life guard, and places to eat and drink).
Many call it Majorca’s answer to the Caribbean; and rightly so. Es Trenc has all the correct measurements – yet is only two hours from London Gatwick. Dreamy.
Es Carbó, Mallorca
If Es Trenc is Majorca’s answer to the Caribbean, Es Carbó is the island’s Indian Ocean.
Resting in a protected bay about 2.3 kms from Colonia De Sant Jordi, this Mallorcan beach is a true heart-stopper – a haven of dreamy beauty where the Spanish Royal Family have been known to take a dip.
With its vast sweep of moon-white sand and shallow crystal-white water, Es Carbó is much more isolated than its Balearic neighbour Es Trenc – so it’s perfect for mooring on for the day and exploring by paddle-board, snorkel or breast-stroke.
The price you pay for this slice of Mallorcan solitude is, however, a lack of facilities – but come by boat or on a catamaran excursion and it doesn’t matter.
All you’ll want to do is float on the peaceful sway of its velvety sea, then swim to shore to bake dry in the buttery Majorcan heat.
