Dreamy and Award-Winning High Tea at the Angel Hotel, Abergavenny

Gallery

The Angel Hotel in the quaint market town of Abergavenny has a secret up its fancy sleeve. It is one of only 9 hotels in the UK to receive the prestigious ‘Award of Excellence’ from the UK Tea Guild. Aka: the Oscar of the tea world.

Nestled among the beautiful mountains of South Wales, the luxurious hotel has been serving incredible afternoon teas since 2002. Its specialist bakers, freshly prepare the sandwiches, savouries, cakes and scones ready for the afternoon, where tea is served in the elegant Wedgewood Room between 2pm and 5pm.

As well as going to the Angel Hotel for its award-winning afternoon tea and high tea, the hotel is worth a visit for its wonderful dining experience and for a weekend sleepover.

The restaurant food served in The Oak Room is renowned in the area. And should you want to extend your culinary journey, The Angel Hotel’s sister Michelin-star restaurant, The Walnut Tree, is just a short drive away.

For a weekend away, this elegant former coaching inn boasts 35 guest rooms. The majority of the rooms are within the main Georgian building, however there are also rooms situated in cosy 17th-century cottages within a few minutes’ walk from the main building.

Each room features chic, contemporary designs, silky Percale bed linens, Aromatherapy Associates Amenities, complimentary Wi-Fi and fabulously fluffy towels. The hotel is decorated with the stunning local artwork of the nearby Art Shop.

Without doubt, The Angel Hotel is a worthy winner of the Good Hotel Guide’s ‘Welsh hotel of the year 2020’.
