On the bend of a river at the edge of Lake District National Park, sits a neat little shepherd’s hut where the loudest sound you will hear is the babble of the water and the chatter of the birds.
The Hut in the Sheep Wash is so called because, in times gone by, this was the place where shepherds would gather their sheep and wash them. The sheep live in different fields today, but the river remains and you can sit by it with a glass of wine when you stay in the cosy Lake District shepherd’s hut a few steps away.
Traditional and carefully made by Hollow Ash Huts, The Hut in the Sheep Wash is where your hectic world melts into the background: forget mobiles and laptops, here the comforts come from off-grid pleasures such as walks in the nearby woods, warm cups of tea wildlife watching and a bbq as the sun goes down. Although there is solar-powered electric sockets if you need to switch on.
Everything you need for a cosy Lake District weekend is provided. The neat kitchen has 2 gas hobs and a grill, a sink and a cool box, and you’ll find tea, coffee, sugar, cereals and free-range eggs provided. The compact bathroom has a modern eco loo, a sink and gas-powered hot shower, with clean towels included. And the full-sized double bed is made up for you to keep you comfortable and warm as the stars come out.
