What used to be the public toilet block has been transformed into a trendy cafe serving some of the best coffee and food concoctions in Mawgan Porth: the Beach Box Café.
The building was saved from destruction by the current owners and the top half turned into a funky café. Helpfully, the bottom half of the Blue Box Cafe still houses the original working toilets so you can safely spend a penny after you’ve supped a few lattes.
There’s a great surf-soul vibe inside, with a beachy, laid-back look, chilled out, happy staff and an imaginative menu of coffees, teas, smoothies and light bites. All of the food is freshly prepared each day at the owner’s kitchens in Wadebridge – and there’s always something available for the cafe’s vegans and gluten-free customers.
Plus, they make their own gelato – including the uniquely Cornish Bucca Gelato (made on the north coast, artisan and hand finished). When you go, make sure you try the Blue Magik Rainbow Latte made from Spirulina algae.
