It’s easy to be forgiven for expecting the 3 Mongolian yurts at Peake’s Retreats in Staffordshire to be traditional in nature. On the outside, they look as if they’ve been plucked directly from the Mongolian landscape. It’s only when you unlock one of the yurt’s thick wooden doors, do you realise your mistake.
Instead of dramatic colours and ethnic patterns, these Peak District yurts are an English country garden dream: fresh white interiors; vintage chic fittings; floral bedding; flower garlands; and farmhouse style furnishings.
They’re peaceful. They’re soothing. They’re everything you want for a relaxing break, all combined with the comforts you’d desire from a boutique hotel: super king-sized beds, sofa beds and day beds, log burners, luxury shower rooms (with Neal’s Yard toiletries), hair-dryers and full-length mirrors.
Beyond your yurt, there’s an 8-person hot tub to kick back in as well as a Finnish BBQ hut – where you can enjoy food cooked over an open flame, regardless of the weather.
