T- minus 17 days till Christmas! Plenty of time…no need to lose our heads, we are sure we can complete our festive to-do list in time (not). For now, let’s leave the lists and enjoy a wintery weekend.

As always, we have found some lovely things for you to do this weekend in the UK – proof that the weekends never have to stop being wonderful, not matter how much Christmas stress life throws at you. Go on, go out there and grab this Saturday and Sunday by the baubles!

For more ideas on what to do this weekend, there’s also the Weekend Directory to visit. Oh, and if you do go to any of the events below, swing by the comments below and let us know!

Theatre | Aladdin – Bournemouth Pavilion, Dorset

7th Dec – 21st Dec, Tickets: £17 -£24

He’s behind you! Better start warming up your vocals ready for panto season. Aladdin is coming to the stage of the Bournemouth Pavilion theatre. Packed full of everything you’d want in a pantomime including laugh-out-loud comedy, stunning scenery, beautiful costumes and of course – a flying carpet!

Starring Richard Blackwood (EastEnders) as Abanazar, The X Factor and Celebrity Big Brother runner up, Amelia Lily as Spirit of the Ring and not forgetting Bournemouth’s favourite funny man, Noel Brodie as Wishee Washee.

David Ball is also making a welcome return as Widow Twankey. Oh no he’s not, oh yes he is.

Event | A Million Dreams: Circus Spectacular, The Passenger Shed, Old Brunel’s Station, Bristol

Sunday 8th Dec, Tickets: £18 – £66 (dependant on party numbers)

Roll up, roll up! The circus has come to Bristol town. And this one is JUST the ticket if you and your family crave a bit of the limelight.

The Million Dreams Circus Spectacular is here to entertain you all and give you the chance to try out some of the circus action for yourself. So as well as a song and dance spectacular, there’s a fabulous circus skills workshop (we’ll get you swallowing fire and juggling swords in no time).

Plus, there’s also fairground-themed side stalls, fun and frolics at an interactive disco, and plenty of delicious food and drink to help fuel your circus act!

Event | Barky Blinders, Pop Up Doggo Café, Queens Arms, Birmingham

Sunday 8th Dec, Tickets: Adult £7.50, Children £3

It’s Birmingham’s first dog welcome pop-up cafe right in the heart of the city. Best of all, it is Peaky Blinders themed. Amazing.

Come along with your four-legged friends: they’ll meet Santa Paws, enjoy a specially made doggo Christmas dinner, and down a puppacino/pawroni – all of which is included in the human’s admission price.

Dogs can also show off their best Christmas or Peaky Blinders’ outfits, and there’ll be plenty of photo opportunities and prizes for best dressed woofer. For humans, the bar will be open for a tea, coffee or alcoholic drink, as well as food available to order.

Activity | Make Your Own Ceramic Christmas Decorations, Glass Centre, Sunderland

Sunday 8th Dec, Tickets: £7 – £15

Spend a day with your hands deep in clay at the Sunderland Glass Centre and your eyes fixed on the prize: your very own bespoke ceramic Christmas decoration.

First, you’ll spend the morning shaping a basic mug form, learning how to use the wheel and the process of centring and lifting clay. In the afternoon, you’ll work with porcelain to learn ‘slab rolling’ before cutting out and decorating Christmas-themed porcelain decorations for the home.

Your creation will then be fired in the kiln, ready for you to collect approximately one week later. Smashing.

Event | A Fairytale Christmas Mansion, Tatton Park, Cheshire

Tues 3rd Dec – Thurs 2nd Jan, Tickets: Adult £10 Children £6

Step inside Tatton Park’s Christmas Mansion this weekend for a magical family experience. It’s themed with your favourite fairy tales and decorated with special lighting and stunning seasonal decorations.

Festive music adds to the magical atmosphere as you work your way through enchanting rooms – from the grandeur of the state rooms to the intimacy of servants’ quarters.

Plus, there’ll be a special festive treat awaiting you and little elves at the end of your adventure!
