“On a quiet spit of Sussex beach – where the shingle gently shifts with the incoming tide – you’ll find Beachcroft Beach Hut Suites. These 4 gorgeous beach huts come with all the boutique hotel comforts you crave plus one exclusive extra: ocean views that flood your days and flow into your nights.”
Once upon a time, a beach hut was little more than a place to store your bucket and spade. But today’s beach huts are modern marvels – and none more so than Beachcroft Beach Hut Suites on Felpham beach in West Sussex.
The Huts
Four dog-friendly beach huts make up the Beachcroft Beach Hut Suites’ family: Shell, Sand, Beach and Pebble. From their nautically handsome exteriors, you can tell there’s something special within each of them and you’d be right.
On the other side of the porthole windows lies a beautiful, large self-contained cabin for a family of four (dogs are welcome too). As you step inside, the sea view rushes up to meet you. It pours over the private decking and in through the bifold doors, filling the space with Felpham beach blues.
Slide back the doors then sit for a while listening to the sea as the sun warms you. When you’re ready (if you can tear yourself away) head back inside to unpack.
There are two bedrooms to choose from. The master bedroom perches on a mezzanine level of its own, reached by a carpeted set of stairs. The glass balustrade is a stroke of genius, giving you views of the sea from the comfort of your Egyptian-linen double bed. There is also a cosy bunkbed room, ready and waiting for younger guests; a bucket, spade and fishing net patiently set aside for the fun to begin.
Beyond the rooms, there’s a large living space with a fresh vibe of seaside blues and seagull whites. It’s dressed with a large aquamarine sofa, which lazes like a sun lounger ready for people to dive onto after a day playing on the shore.
There’s also a smart TV and board games (still and silent as if praying for a rainy day), a Nespresso coffee machine and pods, and a Smeg kettle with selection of teas, soft drinks and snacks.
Next to them, you’ll find a bottle of rose wine and a decanter of sloe gin. Instant sundowners, primed for the sun to set over the sea and for you to take a seat in this, your new home for the weekend.
The Location
You’ll find Beachcroft Beach Huts located right on sand-and-pebble Felpham Beach in West Sussex. This fabulous spot, sandwiched between Brighton and Portsmouth, is ideal for a traditional seaside short break.
Here you can explore seven miles of costal footpath, by foot or by bike (Beachcroft Hotel has specially curated activities retreats, one of which is with Marmalade MTB mountain bikes), take a refreshing dip in the ocean (qualified open water coaches, Sandy Toed Sea Swimmers, can offer you expert tuition) or head into nearby Chichester for a spot of shopping and theatre.
Of course, you’ve also the South Downs within easy reach, nearby Goodwood has many year-round events to enjoy and there are also a number of great Sussex vineyards not too far away.
