Why we love Hidey-hole cinema cabin for a weekend
“If rewilding your soul and disengaging from the world is what you crave (but you don’t want to forgo those touches of luxe that make life extra sweet), then the Hidey-hole glamping cabin in East Sussex is for you. One minute, you can be making daisy chains in the wildflowers, the next watching Driving Miss Daisy in your own private cinema.”
Turn into one of the secluded grazing meadows at Downash Wood in East Sussex and something special immediately catches your eye. At the edge of your view, a sleek, black timber glamping cabin awaits; its simple yet sophisticated shape is striking against the greens and browns of the surrounding land.
This is Hidey-hole Cabin – a glamping retreat in East Sussex that has been personally designed by your hosts, Stephen and Jane, to give you a unique and unforgettable window on the nature that wraps around you.
Hidey-hole cinema cabin is an architectural gem – both inside and out. The first thing that strikes you is the glass: Hidey-hole boasts bi-folding doors on either side of the cabin and a huge picture window at the foot of your bedroom. Both the doors and the window flood your irises with the peace of this slice of East Sussex landscape and keep you connected to the wildlife outside 24/7.
From your bedroom spot, tucked into your king-sized bed, Mother Nature gives you something special to watch: expect deer amongst the mist as you drink a morning coffee, watch birds nesting on the 150-year-old oak tree, and see shooting stars in the moonlight before you surrender to sleep.
When you’re finished with Mother Nature, click a button and down comes a VIP movie-night screen, along with the blinds. Turn on the popcorn maker, then tip the hot popcorn into the classic cinema-style buckets provided – and head back to bed before the opening titles begin.
Of course, the cinema experience isn’t the only selling point of Hidey-hole cabin – it has a lot more to keep you both cosy and happy for the weekend. You’ll find a fully-fitted kitchen inside the cabin, underfloor heating, a dining table and two soft leather chairs, plus a modern shower room and toilet.
Outside there’s a canopied deck with a Chesney’s log burner and BBQ (you’re given ample logs, kindling, matches, firelighters and newspaper). As well as a sundeck complete with plush lounging chairs and a side table. For those of you who like your glamping with a spot of yoga, Hidey-hole doesn’t disappoint: there’s a brand new wellbing platform where you can yoga in the fresh air before taking a breather in the hammock chairs. Namast-yay.
Should you want to explore the area around the cabin, the 750-acres of Bewl Water is an easy walk away. You can also walk into Ticehurst Village and visit the great artisan shops and the award-winning pub, The Bell, before slipping back to your hidey-hole for a box-set binge.
Trust us, one weekend in Hidey-hole Cabin and you’ll see why it is an East Sussex glamping experience that’ll never struggle for attention.
